Ford Ecosport review from our Dealership
The famous fifth wheel that used to clutter the boot door became an option and was replaced by a puncture-proof kit. Without it, the EcoSport is only 4.02 metres long. This makes parking easier and can even be done with the help of a rear-view camera (optional from January 2016). In addition, the swinging rear door is a practical feature. It locks when released. This means that it will no longer hit the wall or the car parked behind it.
As for the finish, Ford has the good taste to offer two versions, Trend and Titanium. The Titanium S finish, which will be launched in January, will allow the EcoSport to be personalized with a black-painted roof and 17-inch alloy wheels that are also black. Note that the GPS will be standard on Titanium S, but also optional on the other versions. The Titanium finish will be available with automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control, aluminium roof bars, alloy wheels, parking sensors and the voice-activated SYNC multimedia system. These features are integrated into a redesigned dashboard that's relieved of a few buttons and better equipped with soundproofing.
Behind the wheel, this Ford made in India proves to be comfortable. The suspension has been reworked and the power steering has been adjusted to new parameters. Driving pleasure is enhanced. The generous ground clearance, despite a drop of 10 mm (19 cm), allows the EcoSport to glide along dirt roads or swallow sidewalks without batting an eyelid, but its platform, derived from that of the Fiesta, deprives it of all-wheel drive.
The 1.0 Ecoboost engine, a turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine with a remarkably pleasant feel, shines with its fuel economy and 125 hp. It is backed by an excellent mechanical transmission... with only five gears. For those who prefer diesel, Ford offers a 1.5 TDCi 95 hp version.
